Accredited Introductory Course Details

Introductory courses are designed for those wanting a short introduction to the effectiveness of and the use of therapeutic play and play therapy methods. They also provide an indication of career prospects and the training style of the course provider. You may then decide if you wish to develop a career in this field and if the course provider’s style and methods match your own needs.

Designed For Anyone interested in using play therapy or developing their skills in working with children. Also for those wishing to make a career decision.

This course is at stage 1 of the PTI four stage training model
Synopsis The course introduces mainly non-directive play techniques based upon the humanistic model of Carl Rogers and the work of Virginia Axline, Violet Oaklander and Mark Barnes. Participants will experience non-directive play therapy for themselves through sandworlds and a dip into the main skills (art, music, movement and storytelling ). Employment opportunities and training requirements for working therapeutically with children will be discussed.
Venues APAC, PTUK, RMPTI & PTirl have permanent training centres in Canada, France, Ireland and the United Kingdom.
