PTI/IBECPT STANDARDS for CERTIFICATION IN PLAY THERAPY and FILIAL PLAY for the Rest of the World.
Play Therapy Standards are ratified by the IBECPT. PTI administers the standards on behalf of the IBECPT, monitors the appropriateness and effectiveness and proposes changes when it is felt necessary. For these purposes ‘Rest of the World’ includes all countries not in geographic Europe or Canada or the United States.
PTI’s objective is to help as many children as possible through safe and effective play therapy and filial play practice. Standards must be appropriate to the level of therapeutic skills and practitioner experience in the country.
If there is no organisation affiliated to PTI established in a country, then the European standards will be applied.
When a PTI Affiliate is established suitable standards will be agreed with PTI, then submitted to IBECPT for ratification. These will include:
Minimum levels of training based on PTI’s Competency Framework
An Ethical Framework appropriate to the country
Clinical supervision requirements appropriate to the resources available in the country
The country standards will also include an agreed plan for harmonising them with the European standards over a suitable number of years.
